Praise Him

Praise Your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are Yahweh. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them, and the heavenly host worship You. Nehemiah 9:6

From verse 6 through to the end of the chapter the song of praise recounts Yahweh's goodness to the Israelite people. It also recounts the transgressions of the people against their God. The chapter ends with:
Here we are Today, slaves in the land you have to our ancestors so that they could enjoy its fruit and its goodness. Here we are- slaves in it! It's abundant harvest goes to the Kings You have set over us, because of our sins. They rule over our bodies and our livestock as they please. We are in great distress. (26,27)

Nowadays we sing praises of our God but I am grateful that we have a saviour so that we do not have to, again and again, recount our misdeeds.

Yesterday one of my sisters posted a humorous poem on Facebook about a woman getting in to heaven and finding a lot of drunks, liars and cheats there and asked Jesus why it was so quiet, and ahe relied, "They are all so surprised that you are here!" A lot of comment went on about the poem and I wrote: it isn't what you do that matters, it is who you know. Do you know Him?

Now we all know that as we know Him our behaviour changes but I was emphasising knowing Him because He is our saviour, He is our goodness, our righteousness. Praise Him! I have reason to sing of His praise the more I know Him!
