Shutting Temple Doors

I wish one of you would shut the temple doors, so you would no longer kindle a useless fire on My altar! Malachi 1:10

Useless sacrifices, useless worship, useless praise. These are all a non-event if done merely because it is what is done, missing completely the essence of relationship. I do this because I cherish you, I love you and want to thank you. You are awesome Lord! This is more the reason.

I grew up in the Catholic Church and we did a lot of form and religion. I enjoyed it, but still longed for my God as He was not in all the rituals. When I found Him He gave meaning to all I had done, but He called me out into a new place.

I know all the rituals originated in heartfelt praise but rituals for the sake of something to do are meaningless. I have created a ritual of blogging twice a day, or close to it when travelling, because I get to read my bible and as I write I learn. Of late I have created new rituals, no TV, limited Facebook and worship music instead. More quiet time, more Him time. Now these are what work for me, they are pleasant but I cannot put them on another. You must discover your own way. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
