Salty???

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men.

You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

Tonight the setting sky is permeated with molten iron, yet to try and capture it, I fail. A beautiful sunrise or sunset fills the heart with wonder but as soon as the sun sets, the world is dull grey. This is how things should be because of the Christian. When the Christian is around light is supposed to suffuse the atmosphere. We are to carry a scent, a flavour. 

Have you ever tasted stale chips? Th opposite is fresh salty chips. What would you prefer? It behoves us then to discover how to stay salty. What leaches away our salt? I would hazard to guess is watching the world through too much TV, identifying with worldly standards, adopting world ethics instead of biblical ethics. How does a fire stay hot? Adding fuel, dry, good wood. 

In Australia we have various woods that we burn on an open fire. There are some woods that have a slow, hot burn. From memory Yellow Box is one such wood. Whereas pine burns quickly, it is good to start a fire but to use it continually, it is a waste of its resource.

Christian, you are needed. The world waits in earner longing for the revealing of the sons of God. As we are revealed we bring a fresh wind, light, hope, freshness. The Spirit of God resides in you, abide in Him and allow Him to permeate your being. Turn off the box. Spend time with the author of life. Amen!!!
