New Beginnings

As they were meeting in Galilee, Jesus told them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." And they were deeply distressed. Matthew 17:22,23

Why were they distressed? Firstly that Jesus would be betrayed. Who by, they all, except Judas, did not know.
Secondly that Jesus would be killed.

They did not hear or understand what came next: 'on the third day He would be raised up.' Perhaps they assumed it meant raised in glory. Have you ever been so upset by the news that you were about to lose a very good friend that you failed to hear the second part? Yes! Failing to understand scriptures prophesy would also be a problem.

We have the value of hindsight. We know Jesus rose again and the victory His death and resurrection won for us is eternal life and an open relationship with the Father. Today is our true birthday. Today represents the beginning of our new relationship with God. Today we can truely rejoice. Today is much greater than what we eat or who we spend Easter with. Today we dine with all heaven, today we join the greatest celebration of all time. The new beginning.

Thank You Jesus! Happy New Beginning! Happy Easter! Amen!
