The Mustard Tree
And He said, "How can we illustrate the Kingdom of God, or what parable can we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed that, when sown in the soil, is smaller than all seeds on the ground. And when sown it comes up and grows taller tag all the vegetables, and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky can nest in it's shade." Mark 4:30-32
Isn't it just like the Lord to take something small and use it for a great purpose. A little seed that has a great tree inside of it, rather than a vegetable just to be eaten.
The kingdom of God may seem small and of not much effect, but the word of God in the right soil, a receptive heart, will produce not only food but shelter.
The word of God planted in my heart is food for the nations, it is also shelter for those who might come to Him, without discrimination.
How can I be food? Being planted in good soil I will grow. I grow not just so all people will congratulate me, but rather be blessed by me. The word of God in my heart has answers for the broken, healing for the sick, the way for the lost.
My branches give shade and protection for all, no one need fear me, no one must be turned away from me. Amen!
