Discipline
'My son, do not take the Lord's discipline lightly or faint when you are reproved by Him, for the Lord disciplines the one He loves and punishes every son He receives.'
Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?
Hebrews 12:5-7
Depending on the type of earthy discipline we will all vary in our reaction to the above scripture.
My dad was not good at this and it prompted me to be better. I made sure I discipline for bad behaviour and loved my children afterwards explaining what they did was wrong but I loved them still.
My son received the more discipline as he pushed the boundaries more. At times I despaired that I had to discipline him so much, however, he is now a good dad.
Accepting discipline from God is a challenge to the world of 'I', however I will not grow as a Christian without it.
Accepting that God does discipline is important. We usually resent things going wrong or not according to 'our' plan. Every decision we make God can use to bring us to truth and closer to Himself.
