Obedience Costs
During His earthly life, He offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Though He was God's Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered. After He was perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him, and He was declared by God 'a high priest in the order of Melchizedek.' Hebrews 5:7-10
Jesus prayed in earnest that He be spared the cross, but God did not answer Him. His silence was a 'No Son! You must do it!' Just as it is when God is silent to us, it means, 'no son, you must do it!' This makes me think, ' if God did not spare His only Son, then He will not let me out of doing what I have to do.'
Jesus was heard by His Father. He Himself said, ' I thank You Father that You always hear me!' He knew He was heard.
Note, Jesus is a source of eternal salvation for those who 'obey' Him, not just like Him, or sing to Him, but OBEY Him! Obedience requires us to lay down our own ideas and opinion and obey him! Amen!
