Living and Active Word

For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart. No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account. Hebrews 4:12,13

Yesterday, at my aunt's funeral, two portions of scripture were read and one in particular was Matthew 25:1-13 this speaks about the five wise virgins and the five foolish virgins. This morning on Facebook Lo! here is an old clip of Billy Graham preaching on the exact same text. Billy was asking: " if you knew Jesus was coming back tomorrow, would you live differently?" I have to say, "Yes!" I would be more ardent in reaching lost souls and praying for these. I re-posted the clip for if my family, who attended the funeral saw it they would be more inclined to watch it and now my prayer is that the Holy Spirit anoints it for them.

This scripture cut through my heart and challenged me to be more pro-active, especially as I discerned a cousin searching for true love. The Love of God has been the best, most faithful, longest lasting and never failing of all the loves I have experienced.

If I don't read the word of God, at least daily, how can I experience such cleansing challenges and then how can I act accordingly? I must read the word prayerfully and allow it to challenge me. This is my spiritual food. Just as I eat breakfast I must delight in the word of God. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
