A Voice Crying Out
A voice of one crying out:
Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness;
Make a straight highway for our God in the desert,
Every valley will be lifted up,
And every mountain and hill will be levelled;
The uneven ground will become smooth and the rough places, a plain.
And the glory of the Lord will appear,
And all humanity together will see it,
And the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 40:3-5
Ah! Here it is again! The thread! This scriptures takes us to Mark 1:2,3
Isaiah had just given us four chapters dedicated to Hezekiah and in 40 suddenly switches to prophesy again, prophesy about the coming Lord. As much as I love history, I love prophesy as here I find the voice of God.
Prophesy vibrates, much like a powerful piece of metal buried beneath a mountain of dirt. History is dirt, full of men's stories built layer upon layer. Some are faithful, but even the faithful display their flesh, they can't help it, they are humans. But where we see prophesy about the Lord, it is pure and full of life, because in him, there is no sin, and this is so satisfying for the thirsty soul and the hungry heart.
When I hear a prophetic voice I listen to hear what God is saying and about to do. Scripture tells us to judge prophesy. This means make sure it is from God. I was recently prophesied over and took it and put it on the shelf. It spoke of me bringing wealth into the church. Yes I long to do this and if it happens, it happens. I will not try and bring prophesy to pass, that is God's job.
