The Wicked and Peace
"There is no peace for the wicked!" Isaiah 48:22
Have you grown up hearing this saying? Have you used it yourself? I have and remember it well but did not know where it came from, I honestly thought it was a man made idea but here we see, it is a God made idea. It is usually something we spit out when wronged or have seen evil men do evil acts.
But what is it saying? If knowing God's ways and living in them brings peace like a river then not knowing them brings lack of peace.
What is a wicked person? The dictionary says: evil or morally bad in principle or practice; sinful; iniquitous: wicked people, wicked habits.
Paul the apostle says: all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
The world calls a person who does extremely vile things wicked but perhaps all are wicked, who refuse to yield to the Lordship of Christ? After all God is the judge of what is right and what is wrong.
In Psalm 14 we see the basis from which a lot in the New Testament believes:
'The fool says in his heart, "God does not exist." They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.'
Psalm 36:1 says:'an oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: there is no dread of God before his eyes, for in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to discover hate and sin.'
