A House of Prayer
Then He entered the temple area and began driving out those who were selling. "It is written," He said, "My house will be a house of prayer," but you have made it a den of robbers."
Every day He was teaching at the temple. but the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill Him. Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on every word. Luke 19:45-48
Jesus really knew how to stir up the ire of the leaders. He was challenging the status quo. The leaders had allowed the selling in the courts of the Gentiles. Yet God held them as important to Him, even if the leaders despised them.
It is interesting that God calls His house, a house of prayer. What do we view it as? A gym, a place of health and well being, a place of fun and activity? Prayer is not usually high on the list, yet it is what God sees it as.
Is God challenging your world? Don't resent the challenge, seek Him in it. The challenge is where we find life. Amen!
Currently I am being challenged. I am minding five grandchildren whilst their parents take a break. One is particularly challenging, he has autism. He is constantly disrupting the household as he is torn with emotions beyond his control. It is tiring but as I sing in the spirit I am refreshed. Praise God!
