The Good News
"Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know. Though He was delivered up according to God's determined plan and foreknowledge, you used lawless people to nail Him to a cross and kill Him. God raised Him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for a him to be held by it." Acts 2:22-24
The very people who delivered Jesus up were hearing a message given under the unction of the Holy Spirit and we're coming under conviction.
Peter goes on to give scriptural reference from Psalm 16:8-11 Peter identifies David as a prophet as David was not speaking always about himself but rather the One who was to come. In Psalm 110:1 David declares that God said: the Lord declared to my Lord, 'Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool.'
Peter goes on to say: "Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!"
When they heard this they came under deep conviction and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: "Brothers, what must we do?"
"Repent," Peter said to them, "and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:35-36
What a good message, what a great salvation! What a glorious promise, to receive the Holy Spirit upon repentance and baptism. Amen! This promise is still true today, still available today. If the men who gave Jesus up to worthless men can be forgiven, so can you. Amen!
