Being Steadfast
Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immoveable, always excelling in the Lord's work, knowing that your labour in the Lord is not in vain. 1Cor 15:58
On the surface this does not seem too much to ask. However, once planted the storms rage endeavouring to uproot us. If the storms don't succeed the pleasures of life will try their hardest to cause us to become complacent and lazy in our faith.
As I write this I am sitting in a warm bed, as it is winter here, with worship music playing, knowing that in less than a month I will be hurled into a noisy, smelly, colourful and beautiful primitive world of Nepal. I will be living in a makeshift shelter, no longer a house or a decent tent, where there is no running water, no sanitation, a land of demons and foreign idol worship.
My faith will be needed then more than ever. But if my faith is based on Christ alone and His word, I will be fine. My circumstances do not dictate my faith, in fact they may push me closer to Him but a good time is not the only outcome.
As I prepare to go I am pressed relationally with family turning against me, finances being withheld. At times like this I say to the Lord: "More souls Lord! The more the enemy rages, the more souls I want." Amen!
