The Lofty City
For He has humbled those who live in lofty places — an inaccessible city. He brings it down; He brings it down to the ground; He throws it to the dust. Feet trample it, the feet of the humble, the steps of the poor.
Isaiah 26:5-6 HCSB
Often we wonder when the humbling of the proud will occur, as we struggle knowing their judgements of us. Yet, they seem to prosper whilst it is an issue to us and when it no longer is, God steps in.
What is interesting is that the inaccessible city belonging to the proud is trampled by the humble amd the poor. I am sure they are not aware. If they were it would be easy to infer vengeance. Whereas, if thy no longer care then they could easily trample on the way past or through.
I think the goal should be to so forget the proud that God is free to deal justice. And the forgetting cannot be a peeking through closed fingers but rather totally genuine moving on. Amen!
