The Mystery

Listen! I am telling you a mystery:
We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in a blink of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
For this corruptible must be clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal must be clothed with immortality.
When this corruptible is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:
'Death has been swallowed up in victory. Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?
Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immoveable, always excelling in the Lord's work, knowing that your labour in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor 15:51-58

Does anyone love a mystery? I do! I love investigation, intrigue, plots and strategies.

Here is an excellent mystery. We will all not die but some of us will be taken up at the last trumpet sound. In the blink of an eye all could change, then death will be swallowed up in victory. At present death remains.

At death, or at the final trumpet we will all be clothed with the incorruptible body, no longer wracked with pain and disease, no more subject to sin. At that day, sin will be gone, sickness will be gone, failure will be gone. All will change in a moment. Praise God!

When will this all happen? No one knows. For us the challenge is to discern what God is up to and to be in tune and ready. Our lamps need to be burning brightly and we need to be wise enough to have a supply of oil, even in the darkest night, when we all expect to be asleep. Amen!
