Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
September 24
For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well.
Psalms 139:13-14 HCSB
I have seen many cripples since being in Nepal. Two I prayed for, the rest I didn't. How does a cripple praise the Lord for how they are made? Could they say - "I am fearfully and wonderfully made? Many are beggars but one I remember who, surprisingly was not. He had a stump on one leg yet he was very agile and busily shopping for himself in the marketplace, no failure here. A resourceful, active member of his community. What made the difference?
Being able to rejoice in all circumstances requires faith, lack of self-pity, humility, and hope for the future. I have prayed for years for the healing of my hearing and not received an answer. I will still seek healing but in the meantime, I will rejoice for I am still fearfully and wonderfully made.
On the trek, my friends and I have just completed there were many many times I could have quit. I struggled with either bowel upsets or lung complaints in the higher altitudes but just as I reached the end of myself I slipped into Spirit-drive and said- Holy Spirit it is Your turn now, I choose to walk in Your strength and I would step out in faith.
