He Joins Us
16 September
In the same way, the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.
Romans 8:26 HCSB
Holy Spirit I praise You and thank You for being with me, for looking out for me, sustaining me, encouraging me. Thank You.
Right now, as I lay on my bed in my tiny room in the Himalayan Alps I feel my sore muscles and pray for strength. Today we make the Annapurna Base Camp. I would have to say this is the most gruelling adventure I have been on. Yet, what an adventure. My trekking guide has been my constant companion and he is a Buddhist. He has asked me to teach his daughter art. I am honoured. The boys in the group rely on me for practical advice and help. I enjoy their company.
My biggest challenge is my travelling companion from Australia. It is he who gets up my nose and challenges grace in my life. If anything I need the Holy Spirit's grace, in abundance.
However, as I pray I am praying for my country, my city, my government, my family and my neighbours at home. I want salvation to be poured out and souls to be saved. I am praying about the same-sex legislation my country is entertaining, in a country where divorce is not heard of, let alone sexual impurity. I see the young men trekking with us loving one another, holding hands, cuddling one another with pure hearts. Perhaps if we had this level of love between our young we would be more wholesome as we grow up.
Today I mourn the loss of purity in my land and pray God's mercy on us. Amen.
