Eyes on Him

My eyes are always on the Lord , for He will pull my feet out of the net.
Psalms 25:15 HCSB

I am a driver and I know I should keep my eyes on the road, if I don't I can come to grief. Today we have a real problem with mobile phones distracting us. There are many unnecessary accidents caused by people using their phones whilst driving. When I do long country trips I like to listen to my music on my phone, through the car system via Bluetooth. However, if I take off and forget to set it up I will find myself fiddling with my phone and wandering onto the wrong side of the road. It is better to pull over and not face the danger of an accident.

When I was a teenager a friend had an accident all because he was fiddling with his casette player. He overturned his car and fortunately did not injure himself too much. When I was 20 and driving home via the steelworks in Wollongong late at night, a car came across in front of me from the left and veered to the oncoming traffic and had a nasty accident. I can only imagine that thy were distracted.

As a Christian we need to keep our eyes on Jesus and not become distracted by attacks of the enemy, foolishness of others, offence, pride etc. Last night I was playing my mum a game of Rummiking and defeated her. She said: " U want to keep my pride intact!" I straightaway replied: " There is the problem, because we know pride comes before a fall!"
Now we were only having fun but in life it can be that serious. We struggle to jeep our image, one we are poud of, to keep face in front of others. It is not about me keeping my pride but losing all of me to gain all of Christ.

Many years ago the Lord gave me a dream about a bus driving through tornadoes. The bus was God’s people, I was laying across the top of the bus and could feel the fear of the people inside and i kept saying, " It is ok, we will be ok!"
I had my eyes straight ahead and would not look at the storm. I cannot afford to look at the storm, it's goal is to capture me by capturing my attention. Stay focussed! Amen!
