Praising God With All You Have
Then David praised the Lord in the sight of all the assembly. David said, May You be praised, Lord God of our father Israel, from eternity to eternity. Yours, Lord , is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to You. Yours, Lord , is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all. Riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler of everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and it is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name.
1 Chronicles 29:10-13 HCSB
David is here worshipping God at his son Solomon's crowning. David is at the end of his life. He has a vast experience with God to draw upon. I am almost 63 and have a longer period to draw upon myself. However, I know there are people who remember the bad instead of being grateful for the good. David could have done as well. David was dying in his 70s, young by some accounts. He must have been ill. He could have bemoaned his illnesses but instead he chose to praise the Lord and went further, he gave from his personal wealth. Not just a token but huge amounts of gold, silver, bronze and precious stones.
David has a few passions: his God and building his God a house topped the list. His goal consumed his life from whence he became king and he began to save for this event.
Last night at connect group I heard a story about young children who were from Kenya. They fasted and prayed and then went into the town and did great exploits. These children had come from various states of.poverty and abuse yet God was their delight. They emptied a hospital by praying for all the patients. Even in last stages of aids was healed. Nothing is too much for the God we serve. Amen!
We must make God our passion and serve Him. Yesterday I heard a message by Bill Johnson. Thr thing I remember is: You must fight the battles God gives you or you will find yourself fighting battles without the grace to fight them. I concur. Amen! We have grace for the battles God calls us to. All we have to do is step into it. Amen!
