Shout to the Lord
Come, let us shout joyfully to the Lord , shout triumphantly to the rock of our salvation! Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout triumphantly to Him in song.
Psalms 95:1-2 HCSB
The somg Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zscheck, Australian pastor amd songwriter aptly does just this. When the song was released it was embraced by the world such was the annointing on the song. Other songs similarly have been taken up. When I was in Nepal recently and attended a Nepali church service we sang a Geoff Bullock song: The Power of Your Love. Whilst it was sung in Nepali my mind remembered the English lyrics. This particular song was written back in the 90s.
Amazing grace was written in 1779 by John Newton and we still sing it. A good worship song lives long. Perhaps it is because God loves it?
David knew it was good to shout joyfully to the Lord. The Psalms exhort us to worship and praise and it is good for our soul and spirit. As we sing songs of praise we release heaven in our midst. Often when I am struggling at work I will put on some music and begin to sing. It lifts atmospheres and breaks through obstacles. Nowadays, with headphones, almost anyone, any where can do the same thing. Try it! Lift your voice and lift your spirit at the same time. Amen!
