The Field of the Scatterer
Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart — not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. As it is written: He scattered; He gave to the poor; His righteousness endures forever. Now the One who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God. They will glorify God for your obedience to the confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with others through the proof provided by this service. And they will have deep affection for you in their prayers on your behalf because of the surpassing grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
2 Corinthians 9:6-15 HCSB
I have on me a passion for giving. As I walked and prayed last week, and will continue to do this week, Lord willing, I will fast and pray. I have entered such a place, I am reluctant to leave. For the longest time I have given, but not to the level of freedom I am now experuencing. I see that my goal must be in giving, then God will supply the rest.
I have a passion for the kingdom and for souls. The harvesters need empowering and they are the ones who must receive. They are often the poor. In Nepal many orphans have nothing and if they become pastors they struggle with poverty.
I have developed a partnership with Samaritan's Purse. Having stayed with them in my recent visit to Nepal, I realise that they, if no one else, have their finger on the pulse of Nepal. I personally witnessed their passion and outreach. These people I can partner with and trust.
Paul is saying in the passage above: each person should give as he has determined in their heart. He could have added, without fear. As I step into a higher level of giving I can trust my God to protect my finances and to grow them exponentially so that an abundance can flow into the kingdom. Amen!
And God is able to make grace abound to me, very 8, so that in every way, always having everything I need, I may Excel in every good work. Paul refers to Psalm 112 in verse 9: He scattered; He gave to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.
Verse 9 tells me God will multiply my seed and increase my harvest. Verse 11 tells me I will be enriched in every way for all generosity. How can I Fail? The is God's territory. He is in this. Amen!
For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but it is also overflowing in many acts of Thanksgiving to God. The receivers will give praise to God. I will partner in a prayer circle of others. Wow!
And they will have deep affection for you in their prayers. How awesome to be carried in the prayers of so many people. I have seen the people at Samaritan's Purse pray and am very grateful I will be a recipient of their prayer. Amen.
