He is Enough!


Who is wise and has understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom’s gentleness. But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t brag and deny the truth. Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who cultivate peace.
James 3:13‭-‬18 HCSB

I think we are being challenged to discern what godly wisdom is actually about. Are we starting to think we are wise? Then we probably are deceived and the fruit of this is envy and selfish ambition.

True wisdom is gentle and content with God being ALL. It is generous, patient, forgiving and free. Worldly wisdom is grasping, selfish and egotistical. Ha!

Envy is bitter. It resents others having what they want. It drives us to squirrel around scratching all it sees to itself and does not share. A nasty spirit! James calls it demonic. It puffs itself up and boasts, pretending to be wise.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy. Wow! What a difference?

Do you know what the answer is? Of course we need to repent but then be content with God. He is enough. It is not about stuff! It is or power but about a relationship with Him. He is enough. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
