One Way


There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people, and we must be saved by it.”
Acts 4:12 HCSB

We must first recognise the need for salvation and to do that know what purity and perfection is outside of ourselves. We can then see we have missed the mark. God is perfect and in Him is no darkness at all.

Coming to the point of knowing my own need, I was being prayed for and was invited to attend a nurse's Christian fellowship. They read scripture and prayed. Although I desired to understand my mind was darkened and did not.

It took an awareness of sin and missing the mark to bring me to truth. I needed saving from my sin. The bible told me that Jesus was the only way.

In the passage above the apostle Peter is saying there is no other name that can save us. He is right. Jesus Himself told us in the gospels: " I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me."

We are foolish to shout back: "I have a better way!" "I won't die for my sins, you have to let me in because I say I am good enough." Yet, if we were let into heaven by self-effort we would die because sin cannot live before God. It is arrogant to decide to tell God: " we follow my rules." If that is the case then you spend eternity with the rebellious angels who said the same thing, and they are not nice. They will rule you.

Lucifer was the first rebel and is out prospecting, looking for those who have his rebellious spirit. You choose! Where will you live for eternity?

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
