Rivers of Life


The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”
John 7:38 HCSB

To have streams of living water flow out from me requires more than a mental assent that Jesus is my Saviour, I must be in a living relationship with Him as my Lord. I must be in vital union with Him, enjoying close communion with Him.

Jesus Himself told me what this looks like: abiding in the vine. I am grafted in to a vine. I am not wafting around free to do my own thing; I am connected to a woody vine, it's life blood flows to me and through me. This gives an image of being stuck and caught somewhere I May feel uncomfortable. Yet, as I submit to the connection and experience the flow of life coming to me, what joy! This life is not bad, in fact it is intoxicating.

I am filled with joy bubbling up in my soul, and look, rivers of life are flowing out from me. Wow! I am now a source of blessing and life, healing and joy.

Do you want real joy? Do you want life? Here it is! There is joy in being connected and caught by the lover of your soul. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
