Results of Humility
The result of humility is fear of the Lord , along with wealth, honor, and life.
Proverbs 22:4 HCSB
Ah! Humility! At times I walk in it but at other times I am outspoken. I have to trust the Holy Spirit to be the motivation for when I am outspoken. I am not sure it is always received and I apologise in advance. I am posses by passion for justice and righteousness, consumed by them.
If we want to know what humility looks like we can look at Moses. It is recorded that He was a most humble man. In the New Testament we have Jesus who said of Himself: 'take my yolk upon you for I am gentle and humble of heart.' Matthew 11:29. Taking Christ's yoke upon us has a promise of rest for our souls.
Anyone want rest in your soul? I am sure we all would. Ad I lay down my opinions and seek His opinions and follow them, I am healed. Oh how good it is to be being made whole.
As I submit to the journey Christ has for me, He brings healing out of left field and surprises me with His wholeness. And oh! How grateful am I!
On Sunday I had an afternoon alone after mum had left. We had had 6 weeks together. It was lonely but I went into seeking God's presence and the new work He wanted to do in me.
Yesterday I received wonderful news. I have a great aunt who loves Jesus. I never knew her or about her until I started reading the family history. Yesterday I telephoned her and we talked for almost an hour. Do you know how grateful I am? Beyond grateful! I am full of gratitude! I have found my Christian roots. My aunt told me her mother was a good Christian woman who took her to the Salvation Army and as a young child she received Jesus. My great aunt is 88.
Finding wholeness is a part of following Christ. A part of finding wholeness is submisssion to Christ in the hard, lonely times. He wants us whole so that we can take wholeness to a lost and dying world. Amen!
