Who Do I Belong To?

Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19‭-‬20 HCSB

The Corinthian Christians were saying: “Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is helpful. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be brought under the control of anything.
1 Corinthians 6:12 HCSB
They were claiming a right to do anything they wanted. The main problem was sexual sin. Paul goes on the address this:
The body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:13b

The church is in its infancy but already littered with wrong teaching. Corinth was a bed of sexual immorality amd the Christians needed to come out of it completely.

We are not our own but belong to Christ and His Holy Spirit resides in us. We cannot, therefore, live to please the lusts of our old dead nature.

As we abide in Christ we are empowered to deal with lust and not fall into sexual sin. Our Lord did not submit to sexual sin and therefore He can empower us. Amen!
