No Selfishness in God

For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil.
James 3:16 HCSB

Tonight this text was a part of the message preached at church. I was struck with the stark difference between this verse and John 3:16
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

The book of James was written by Jesus brother and the gospel of John was written by a close disciple called John. One talks about cold selfish ambition and one pure selfless ambition. Such a huge gulf exists between the two.

God's motive selfless to the core and our carnal nature selfish to the core.

The good news is: God's selfless act makes way for us to walk in the same selflessness. What a redeemer! Amen!
