Forgive as He Forgave
And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
Ephesians 4:32 HCSB
This whole chapter is full of training in godliness. The verse: be angry but do not sin, is here as well. The challenge for us as Christians is to be angry but kind. Now there is the rub!
We must forgive the offence but also deal with the outcome or result of the offence. This is where we really must cling to God as He has an outcome He wants to achieve. It is His outcome that is important.
God forgave us our many misdeeds, as we come to Christ. He forgave all our selfishness, arrogance and pride. All that we failed to do He forgave. He forgave to the point of sacrifice, the life of His Son Jesus. Just so we must forgive. Only with His grace and mercy can we forgive to this extent. Amen!
