Citizens of Heaven
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,
Hebrews 12:1 HCSB
We can easily lose sight of the fact that we are surrounded by such a sight. All heaven can see us as if we are an Olympic runner in a marathon. Footballers have this experience. Do they play for themselves or their team and the fans watching? Would they do something to cause their team to be disqualified or their fans to be disappointed?
Each of us are a part of the kingdom of God and each affects the whole. How I live affects my church, Christianity's name and my Gods name. Yesterday I had a chance to witness to a client. This is always a delicate matter as my rule is to care for my clients. However, we were having a heart to heart conversation about the meaning of life and why things happened the way they did. I knew my God wanted me to speak and I did. Now He can use what was said like a master potter. I imagine Paul the apostle watching on and cheering.
I am a citizen of heaven and it is heaven to which I belong. Amen! I need to remember this and always behave as a citizen of heaven rather than living to please myself. Of late being a terrorist or a supporter of terrorism is being a traitor to your own people and your own land. We need to honour who and what we are.
