Where is My Light?
The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom should I be afraid?
Psalms 27:1 HCSB
When it is very dark, you need a light or a guide, preferably both. Many tracks in Nepal are across dangerous rickety footbridges. I would not venture out there in the dark without a guide and a good torch.
In life there are many dangerous situations around us, people are being murdered everywhere we turn. How can we be safe? Going out into dark places without a light or a guide is tantamount to committing suicide.
Belonging to a club, an ideology, a team or an employer is not a guarantee of security. In Australia at present, we are seeing our banks and investment houses decimated in the high court for breach of a duty of care towards customers. Clients are reeling wondering if they have someone to stay by them through the storms of life and investment houses close down or are heavily fined.
Our outback farms are dying in severe drought and as a people we are being crushed, earthquakes are destroying islands to the north of us and fires burn up forests in the USA, in Syria we see children buried alive in apartments that are destroyed by an arms supply store exploding beneath them. Where is the answer?
Our hope is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He alone is the answer and those who seek Him find Him. I have to trust my God for He alone is perfect and He alone is good. Amen!
