Eternal Life

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 HCSB

What does it mean to perish? If you are left in the desert without food and water, you die naturally; if you spirit never tasted new birth life, it dies forever.

I lived 19 years with a dead spirit and was very unhappy. I had tried to find the fullness of God that had been promised, and failed. Yet in this failed state, God came to me and spoke to me and opened my eyes.

We are told an allegorical story in Genesis of Hagar and Ishmael being cast out by Sarah and they wandered, forlorn in the desert but God heard there cries and opened Hagar's eyes to water.

Jesus told His followers He had come to give living water:

On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, he should come to Me and drink! The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.” John 7:37‭-‬38

Not only did I receive 'new birth' but I received a divine flow of the Holy Spirit. It is this flow that is for me to share with others. Amen!
