Enter His Gates

Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Today I believe the earth is rejoicing. Last night we had a satisfying downpour. Whilst a lot of lightning also discharged on the land, I pray no new fires were created.

I look out over the valley towards the hills on the opposite side. I watch the rain come in. Yesterday there was a dust storm amidst the rain. When the rain hit it brought strong winds. Fortunately, the winds were not destructive.

I love watching storms and have had all my life. The power and the glory wrapt in the storm is wonderful to watch. I see my God in it. Yet I am reminded of the prophet Elisha who had God place him in the cleft of a rock. Before him came a ferocious fire, then a mighty wind and he said: 'but God was not in the storm." Then he heard a quiet still voice, that was God.

I am grateful for the rain we have had of late. I have been struggling to keep plants alive with greywater (water from washing). Everything is now green and it is most satisfying. I can hear the earth rejoicing. The little birds are flitting around the garden, frolicking and having fun. I am rejoicing!

Yet God deserves my praise and adoration even in the dry times. He is still good when things are going wrong. He is worthy to be praised because His presence is all I need. Amen!
