clothe yourself

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12 NLT

Each day we shower/bathe and clothe ourselves. If we are fortunate to have choice we will examine our options amd choose what is appropriate for what we have to encounter that day. In Christ we have choice also but are encouraged, as God's chosen ones, to put on the fruits of the Spirit: love, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Clothing ourselves required a conscious choice, naturally, and also spiritually. In this time of the COVID19 pandemic some have let themselves go as they are not rushing to the office but are housebound.  A visitor unexpected soon sorts out this behaviour, for a time at least. 

As Christians we are not able to attend church as before and even bible study can be somewhat limited. My group meet by Zoom each week. Therefore, we are able to dress more casually and our time together which used to extend to hours is now not even 1 hour.

However, now more than ever those we do interact with need love, patience, kindness, goodness and mercy. Rather than tough it out we need to relay our struggles and ask for prayer. Praying for each other is a part of loving.

Love starts with us. If we sow love, we receive love. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
