wisdom is not animal cunning
Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn’t wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn’t wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn’t wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom—it’s animal cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats. James 3:13-16 MSG https://bible.com/bible/97/jas.3.13-16.MSG
When self pops us you can feel it, hear it and sense it. It starts to bristle with 'I'm better than her!' 'I could have said that better!' 'I don't need you to tell me, I know!' Self is very good at pride, arrogance, criticism, judgement, anger, resentment and jealousy. They are feel puffed up, offended, bristly.
Ask the Lord for insight and understanding and help to see all this in your life. When you begin to see them, repent quicky and pray for mercy and grace. Lord help me to stay humble!
God is good and will answer a genuine call for help, especially a desire to remain humble. Keep it sweet between you and your God and you and others. Amen!
