are you ready?

“Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into.  You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Luke 12:39‭-‬40 NLT

The Lord could return ar any time, corporately, or individually. We do not know when His grand return will be, yet we know it is close. Meantime, each of us can be called home instantaneously.

Last week I was told of my friend's sister having a stroke at work. My friend said: "she was lucky it happened at work as they sent for an ambulance immediately." Is she lucky for missing a chance encounter with her Lord? This woman is 72 and a devout Christian. I live with an impending sense that time is up very soon.

If Jesus is returning for His church very soon then she needs to be ready. He told a parable of several young virgins waiting for the bride and groom, who were late. They fell asleep. When the bride and groom came, the virgin's lamps were running out of oil. Some brought spare, whilst others didn't. Those who did not have spare oil missed out on going in to the feast because they were off trying to buy more oil. Jesus finished this parable warning to always be ready.

Are you ready? I am!
