suffering a little

Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. 1 Peter 5:8‭-‬11 MSG

We would all like to do away with suffering, and create a world of comfort. However, Nirvana is not real, its is an ideal construct by mankind. Although it is a part of the Buddhist and Hindu teaching, it is still a human idealism.

Suffering is a part of life. When we suffer, a little or a lot, we find a strength we only discover in the struggle. I remember my dad when he had cancer. Prior to his affliction he was a grouch, afterwards he was a changed man. Whilst the cancer took his life, my dad was well prepared. He made peace with God and in return had a heart at peace. He had invited God into more of his life than ever before.

Suffering can make us nicer and enable us to face ourselves or react in the 'poor me' attitude, and drive everyone away. The choice us ours. Amen!
