loving God

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5 HCSB

I wonder if telling a group of people, who didn't really know God or much about Him, to love Him with heart, soul and strength would go down? The evidence shows, not too good at all. While Moses, the lawgiver, was up the mountain with God, they made a golden calf and worshipped it. Why did they worship a golden calf? They had lived in Egypt and seen such worship.

Jesus came because we could not keep this law, let alone any others. He came to pay for our sin and make a way for us to live in relationship with God, instead of law. Now, loving God is a relational thing, not a legal thing.

The constant challenge we face is living in relationship. This required us to talk to Him, listen to Him and act out of this love towards others. It will give us a better life. Amen!
