We can become numb to the sacrifice Jesus made, taking it for granted. Yet, I think missionaries follow this example best. They give up their ease and comfort to spend their lives giving to others in discomfort. I read only yesterday of a missionary who had been in Malawi for 20 years, died from COVID19. She had chosen to stay on missison in grave danger. Perhaps the danger she had faced with violence and disease already had prepared her.

While missionaries exemplify the behaviour we should have, it is not isolated to that field. Each of us has a mission and a field, be it home base. Learning to be on missison and not living for self is the challenge.

Last night I had a friend over who brought his new dog, who was not house trained. It defecated on my rug, wet on it and wet in the corner on my dogs bed. I was severely challenged. The mat that had the most damage was once precious to me, not any more. My own dog had seen to this. Last year, whenever I was having Hindu or Islamic friends over, he would mess on the mat. Delightful! (Not)

We need to love God more than the things of this world. (If not a jealous God will wreck them).
