forgiveness

Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.” Dividing up his clothes, they threw dice for them. The people stood there staring at Jesus, and the ringleaders made faces, taunting, “He saved others. Let’s see him save himself! The Messiah of God—ha! The Chosen—ha!” Luke 23:34‭-‬35 MSG

It relating to others we can be hurt, and let down repeatedly. Do ee harden our hearts, become bitter and unforgiving, and walk away?

Jesus watched soldiers gamble for His clothes, He was jeered at and condemned by passers by, yet He forgave.

Today we are reminded of the depth of love and compassion of Christ. Was it only the soldiers He was speaking about? Or was it the pharisess, the rabble, King Herod, Pilate, and His disciples who ran away from Him?

Who was He willing to forgive? I would hazard to guess it was everyone. He was not being choosy. He dies for all sin, not just those He considered not against Himself, or not so severe.

We are all forgiven. All are covered by the finished work of the cross. Praise Him!
