disappointed mothers

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

What tests love? Failure to honour or recognise as expected. I imagine there a lot of disappointed mothers tonight. Why is there disappointment? Is it the children's fault or wrong expectation? Probably a bit of both. Expecting mother's day to be special is a worldy construct. Every day mothers should be loved and honoured, as should fathers and children. If we lived the biblical mandate we would live as God loves, unconditionally, at all times.

The Old Testament shows us God's upset at failure of His people to honour Him. Yet Jesus paid the price for that sin and God is satisfied with the gift Jesus gave.

We are the ones missing out on a life empowered to do right by God and others. We are the ones dissatisfied and upset. Maybe we should take a leaf out of God's book.
