choose life

My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence. Philippians 2:12 TPT

Becoming saved from sin is the first part, making Jesus Lord is making Him ruler over all reactions, decisions and dreams. The opposite is to live for self. I will react as I want, I will make my own decisions, I will follow my dreams of a prosperous and happy life.

Now God may well want to bless us and prosper us but if we take the lead we tend to be self made, and arrogance creeps in. Arrogance refuses to submit to God's authority.

So, choose well who you will serve as the outcome will vary immensely. A selfish person cannot expect God to honour all the selfish decisions  and allow them to share eternity with the innocent.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
