justice
But let justice flow like water, and righteousness like an unfailing stream. Amos 5:24
The whole chapter is about the injustice that the Lord sees in His people. verse 15 says: Hate evil and love good, establish justice in the gate.
Theg gate was where matters were dealt with, but God saw wickedness instead of godliness. Injustice oppresses the poor, wickedness abuses them.
We are fools if we think that God should be pleased with us because of an outcome we judge to be good, but the process involved extractling all from the poor so we could live like kings. Who suffers becasue of our methods? Who is crushed and bruised? There is no reason to oppress the poor, none!
Today we see the poor herded into factories to sew clothes for us in the west that are cheap. We like bargains, but the process includes long hours for little pay of the poor. How can we blindly ignore the cries of the poor?
All my working life I battled injustice for the elderly and misinformed. Yesterday I battled for an elderly neighbour who is trying to sell furniture. I posted all the furniture online and had an offer too good to be true. It ended in a battle with a bully.
We cannot be found to be the bullies. the Lord hears the cries of the poor and oppressed. We must be their defenders not oppressors. amen!
