eternal life

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NLT

What is the deal about eternal life? This is what Jesus promises us when we accept Him as our saviour and Lord. Without eternal life we have eternal death.  How does that work? The bible talks about a lake of fire which never goes out and a worm that is never consumed, which was prepared for the devil and his angels. Unfortunately,  this is also where those who refuse to accept Jesus go as well. Death is not a permanent sleep, or no more existence. We each have a body that will die, but also a soul which is the real us and a spirit where Jesus inhabits if we ask Him in, these are eternal. If we don't do this our spirit is inhabited by death, and it takes our soul with it to hell.

Gruesome! Yes! But so was the cross that Jesus chose to die on to pay for our freedom. We will never be good enough to earn heaven. Therefore, we need an entry pass. Jesus is that pass.

Today we remember the cross and the penalty Jesus paid. Sunday is when we remember He rose from the grave, showing us that indeed He has won us a victorious pass. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
