“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
Today is windy. This morning I climbed my hill and enjoyed God’s creation. He is good!
I love the view across our valley in which Tamworth is established. In the early 1800’s settlers fought their way here across mountains and rivers without roads to guide them. There is a river, the Peel River that flows through the city. It does not look much, however, this is because it has a major dam on it some 30km upstream. I am grateful my forebears came. My family kept travelling up the high hills out of the city to another place on the plateau called Bundarra. If you spit you miss it. It is farming country. My family moved down from there to another slightly larger town called Barraba and then on to Bingara where I grew up. When I went to Wollongong to begin nursing at 18, my mum and dad moved here to Tamworth so that my siblings could have a better education and more work opportunities. Tamworth was where I came to see family. My husband and I moved here in 1993 to begin a church. We eventually did that in 1995. We began a school as well. The church is still going, as is the school, being run by our then associate leaders.
I am grateful to God that He lifts me up and encourages me in every step. In 2003 after an 18 month illness my husband was a shell of a man, depressed and secretive. I carried on pastoring and keeping our business afloat. That same year my dad died from lung, liver and bowel cancer. It was a hard time. A small thing turned into a monster and caused my marriage to fail. The past 20 years has not been easy, but God has remade me. All the fears we have addressed together, all the doubts about my ability have been challenged. I have a few enemies to defeat, however, they are on the losing end. My God has given me the victory. I am His daughter! He thinks highly of me.
If He can so encourage me, what can I do for others?
