“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”John 15:13 NLT
If we are seeking to find the greatest form of love we can give to another person, here it is. It deals with selfishness. I give up my wants for you. What does that look like? I may be really hanging out to see a certain movie, however, you ask me, instead, to take you to a medical appointment. I give up my casual desire for your greater need.
Jesus gave up His desire to live and not suffer, for us so that we could know the Father like He did. This is a far greater sacrifice. I imagine a missionary might face this level, if instead of escaping the country before the Taliband took over Afghanistan, they stayed to help fellow Christians. This is a realistic act.
When Russia invaded the Ukraine, many missionaries left the country, however, many have since returned. The Samaratin’s purse are still there.
This is something to ponder! Amen!
