Persecution is a part of being a Christian. Jesus told His disciples that familes would turn against families; that His disciples would be handed over to authorities for His namesake. However, He also told them not to be anxious about what to say as His Holy Spirit would give them words to speak at the right time.
Peter and John were imprisoned for preaching Christ; Stephen was stones for preaching Christ; Paul was constantly chased throughout Asia for preaching Christ. The persecutors in all these cases were the religious Pharisees.
In many countires of the world now, people are chased, imprisoned, killed for Christ. In Nepal pastors are imprisoned by the religious zealots of Hinduism. Religion kills not only those whom it holds but those who refuse to be held it is an evil spirit.
Yet, Jesus came to set men free! Amen!
