“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT
Always be thankful! Even when circumstances are not favourable. Whilst we may not rejoice that people are against us, we can rejoice that God is for us.
Yestersay I learned a lesson: always have an agreement in writing. When I came to my current accomodation I was told a certain price. Yesterday, because I asked for a letter a new manager asked for more, stating his own reasons. Soon three different stories abounded, and the price escalated. I have taken the middle ground, whilst knowing that the treatment is unreasonable, I also know that it will be more acceptable, as I have one more week to go before I leave.
I can rejoice that my God is good and that I have learned a lesson. The key will be to move ahead with new information. It will also be important to know the nature of the people I am involved with.
I happened to pick up a report on the state of the church in Nepal. It related areas where churches abounded and areas where there were none. It also related the difficulties in collecting the information giving the state of the churches here. The heart is not always helpful. Petty differences and desire for financial remuneration was cited as a difficulty in obtaining information. This gives me direction in prayer and caution in dealings with God’s people.
We all have fleshly tendencies. We can fail to walk in the Spirit. Only as we submit to God’s Holy Spirit can we walk in a manner worthy. I am reminded to walk worthy myself and give thanks. Amen!
