“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.”
1 John 3:1 NLT
The world does not know Jesus, the Father or the Holy Spirit. They do not care to know Them. However, they need to know Them. How, then, do they come to know Them? They come to know about Jesus and the Father through us. Firstly through us living close to the godhead and displaying their character, secondly through our testimony of them working in our lives, and thirdly through sharing the gospel with them, with signs and wonders.
Worldly people do not come to know Jesus through us living like them. We must choose which god we serve: our God or mammon. Mammon represents the world and its lust for riches, entertainment and fun. If these are what we live for then we are worldly. We are being deceived as we live for the things of the world. We not only destroy our testimony but also our opportunity to share Jesus with others. We run the risk of eternal fires along with them. Saying we will we been fine and see the glories of heaven we deceive ourselves. Living for self is just another version of mammon. We can say with our mouths ‘Jesus is Lord’ but live like mammon is Lord. What then will the judge say to us? ‘Begone from me you who practice lawlessness’.
Today we must decide who we will serve, by not deciding a decision is being made. Amen!
