Godliness is better
““Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”1 Timothy 4:8 NLT
I love physical exercise, walking and swimming are my favourites. I’ve trained for triathlons in the past and had a life of exercise. However, what is more important to me is spiritual exercise. Daily I spend time reading God’s word, praying in the spirit and singing worship songs. Whilst I have tended to read Bible plans, this year I am using my hardcover study Bible to also study the gospels. I am taking my time and chewing over the scriptures.
My time with God is more important than anything else. His thinking, His desires, His power and authority come first. If I live out of Him (abide in Him) then I treat other well.
If I abide in Him life is so much better. I am attending a filthy college to learn the Nepali language. The teacher does not speak much English and writes on the board what is written in the text book. As I don’t speak a lot of Nepali I am constantly translating what he is saying via Google translate. The place is freezing in winter and steaming hot in summer. I cannot allow myself to go to whine mode. Why am I there? Because God wants me there. He has a plan and a purpose.
I am making friends, mainly with foreigners. I am being a witness to the Nepali and foreigners alike. Why is an old Australian lady in Nepal, learning the language? She is obey her Lord!
I am supporting Nepalis in the work of ministry and helping the poor. I am supporting a work that will teach children about trafficking and empower them to report perpetrators. I oppose abortion and trafficking and continue to speak up about them for they are wrong.
My God’s heart is for the poor, children and old people. He loves the unlovely, the downtrodden, the blind, the sick and the lonely. Surely I can be His representative in this place! Amen!
