The whole story

“That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.”Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Solomon did not end well, he married many foreign women against the word of the Lord, and they became a snare to him. However, this very last chapter sums things up well. He basically is saying, “remember God and fear Him, don’t go your own way!”

Unfortunately Solomon’s son did not heed him, he chose the wrong advisers and destroyed the kingdom.

Fearing God is respecting Him. Pride caused Lucifer to fall and he uses the same tool to pull us down. Solomon would have been tempted with pride, we all are.

I was pondering men like Moses and David and how they both killed men to deal with a problem they had. Yes, God used them and perhaps the knowledge of their sin humbled them. I do not want to have to be humbled in such a way. I pray that I have ears to hear and eyes to see my sin before the rock falls. Unfortunately, Lucifer did not learn his lesson and is destined to a fiery eternity.

Oh! May I gain a humble heart and not be ruled by pride!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
